Data Deletion

To request deletion of personal information held by NEWS TEAM (PTY) LTD, trading as NewsTeam, email hello@newsteam.io. This includes information received through our Facebook and Instagram integrations. Requests are available to everyone, in any region, without a NewsTeam account and without a fee.

How to request deletion

1. Email hello@newsteam.io, ideally with the subject "Data deletion request".
2. Tell us what information you want deleted. Include the email address associated with your NewsTeam account, if you have one, and the relevant organization or website if known.
3. For Facebook or Instagram information, include the relevant post, video, or profile URL and the customer article or website URL if available, so we can locate the embed and associated data.

If you do not know all these details, send what you have and we will help identify the records. Do not send passwords, access tokens, payment card details, or identity documents with your initial request. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or authority before deleting data.

What happens next

We will review your request, clarify its scope if necessary, and respond within the period required by applicable law. Once verified, we will delete the relevant information held by NewsTeam as soon as reasonably possible, instruct service providers processing it for us to carry out applicable deletion, and confirm completion or explain any information that must be retained and why. You can follow up at the same email address.

Deletion can include account and contact information, relevant customer-held personal data, and stored Facebook or Instagram embed information and metadata. Closing an account or deleting data may affect access to the Services and connected features. Where the law requires retention, we keep only what is needed for that requirement. Restricted backup copies may remain until overwritten through the backup lifecycle and are not used for ordinary service operations.

Information on customer websites or Meta

If a publisher controls the information and NewsTeam processes it on their behalf, we will coordinate with the publisher or direct you to them as appropriate. You can still email us for help, including for requests about Meta Platform Data held by NewsTeam. Deleting information from NewsTeam does not delete the original Facebook or Instagram post, your Meta account, or independent copies held by other parties. Those requests must also be made to the relevant provider or publisher.
